Billeting

Mike and Bri Helbing are all smiles on Billet Appreciation Night 2019 with their three players Cale McCoshen, Jack Vincent, and Cole Brady.

Each season, the Janesville Jets seek local families with a bit of extra room in their hearts and homes.

Without question, junior hockey cannot exist without the backbone of our strong billet families. Every August, 25-30 young men between 16 and 20 years old come to Janesville from all over the US, Canada, and Europe to continue their dream of playing NCAA Division I hockey. Billet families provide a caring, supportive, family environment that becomes the “home away from home” for our young men. Billeting can be an exciting and rewarding experience, and often leads to lifelong friendships between the player’s billet and biological families.

“As a billet family, we love being involved with the Jets. It’s a privilege to cheer on our billet sons as they chase their dreams, grow as players and as people, and become part of our family and our community.” — Renee Engen, 8th-year billet parent.

Billet families are provided $400/month per player to offset food and other costs. Families also receive two (2) Jets season tickets per player, and are invited to participate in the annual Billet Appreciation Night each spring.
