Five Jets Selected at 2018 USHL Draft

JANESVILLE, WI – With the 92nd overall selection in the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Phase II Draft Tuesday morning, the Tri-City Storm selected Janesville Jets defenseman Luke LaMaster, beginning another day of celebration for an organization committed to player development and advancement. In all, five active players from the 2017-18 Jets were selected, in addition to three other players with Jets ties.

Later Tuesday afternoon, the Lincoln Stars dipped into the Jets’ talent pool, selecting forward Matt Barbolini in the 10th round (159th overall). In the 11th round, goaltender Garrett Nieto was  called by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (168th), and just four picks later, the Dubuque Fighting Saints scooped up defenseman Matt Doyle (172nd). One Jet proved not enough for the Storm as Anthony Noreen’s staff picked forward Benji Eckerle in the 14th round, 218th overall.

Additionally, the Chicago Steel used a third-round pick on Jets tender Jordon Halverson (Hudson High) at 48th overall. Forward Brenden Olson (Eau Claire Memorial), another tender, went 102nd to the Des Moines Buccaneers, and tendered defenseman  Tony Follmer (St. Louis AAA Blues) was taken by the Sioux Falls Stampede with the 161st overall pick. Follmer played one game with the Jets this season, scoring an assist in a 3-2 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues in January.

The five active players combine for 208 total games played with the Jets.
