Janesville boosted by Halladay’s play in net, beats Springfield 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Logan Halladay helped the Janesville Jets defeat the Springfield Jr. Blues, 2-1.

Janesville pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Jets were led by Nick Petrella, who racked up one goal. Petrella scored 1:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Janesville. Kyle Patava provided the assist.

Janesville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield to score on any of its six power plays. By firing 35 shots on goal, the Jets exceeded the 27.1 shots they average per game this year.

Michael Louria also scored for Janesville. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Adam Winborg, who had one and Drew Callin, who had two.

The Jr. Blues forced Janesville goalie Halladay to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots.

Springfield was led by Max Kalter, who scored the team\’s only goal. Kalter scored 1:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Springfield. Kevin Shand assisted on the tally.

Halladay recorded 51 saves for the Jets. Janesville registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Jr. Blues\’ Stefanos Lekkas stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Springfield incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
