ABERDEEN SURVIVES JANESVILLE COMEBACK, WINS 2-1

Aberdeen, SD- The Janesville Jets tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Aberdeen Wings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

A goal by Erik Baskin put Aberdeen up 2-0 in the first period, but Janesville pulled to within one on Nick Petrella's tally 10:15 into the third period.

Baskin was all over the ice for the Wings, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Aberdeen stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wings' offense rang up 34 shots on Janesville's net.

More assists for Aberdeen came via Ryan Cook, Tanner Okeson, Dillon Eichstadt, and Jonathan Grebosky, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aberdeen to score on any of its five power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were John Severson, who had one.

Chad Catt rejected 22 shots on goal for the Wings. Aberdeen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Janesville's Brock Kautz stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.

Coach Joe Dibble says, “It is our number one focus to have a full 60 minutes of giving one-hundred percent. Our focus level has to the there in order for us to succeed in the future. We are our own worst enemy at times, but we will come out guns-blazing next time.”
