Vet Check-Up: Alec Semandel

Aug 25, 2017

Leading up to 2017-2018 training camp, media intern Emily Polglaze will be leading the Vet Check-Up feature on JanesvilleJets.com. Twice a week, she’ll catch up with one of eight Jets veterans to see how the summer offseason has been going, and what they’re looking forward to in the season to come.

The second blue liner of the series is #4 Alec Semandel.

EP: How is your offseason going?
AS: Great! Really looking forward to get the new year going though!

EP: Been on any vacations?
AS: Nothing special, but I got to take a weekend off and go to Door County for a few days with family and friends.
EP: Have you been doing any skating?
AS: Yes, I have a good group of guys to skate with at Waunakee Ice Pond.

EP: What skills have you been focusing on during the summer?
AS: Other than hockey I have been honing in on my golf skills! They didn’t work out very well last weekend in the golf outing that we played in, though.

EP: What is your favorite summer activity?
AS: Spending hot summer days on the lake with friends is ideal.

EP: What NHL offseason trade or development was most surprising to watch?
AS: I personally enjoyed seeing Connor McDavid win the Hart Trophy.

EP: What is your favorite summertime meal or snack?
AS: Peanut butter on graham crackers is clutch… otherwise, burgers on the grill!

EP: What do you miss most about the Jets in the summer and look forward to in the fall?
AS: I’m ready to get back on the ice and start playing games again.

EP: Once training camp starts, where will you go for your first lunch break?
AS: GR’s!!!

EP: Any goals for the upcoming season?
AS: Nothing less than a Robertson Cup at the end of the year!
