JANESVILLE, WI — The Janesville Jets have announced details for this Saturday’s 3rd annual Guns ‘N Hoses promotional game.

The Jets take on the Minnesota Magicians at 7:00pm, following a special 4:30pm charity game.

The Janesville Police department will take on a team made up of Janesville, Beloit, and other Rock County Fire departments. The Guns ‘N Hoses game is free to the public, and the first 125 fans through the 3:45pm doors can get their hand stamped for free admission to the Jets game. Tickets will also be sold at the event, as fans are encouraged to stay for both games. The Jets are offering half-priced beer until doors for the Jets’ game open at 6:15pm. Fans are encouraged to tip their volunteer bartenders from area police departments and fire stations. Tips and 50/50 raffle proceeds will benefit the evening’s charity.

Each year, the Guns ‘N Hoses game benefits a different charity. This year, all proceeds that are raised through the event will be donated to Vets Roll. Vets Roll is a charity based in South Beloit, IL, whose mission is to “thank and pay tribute to” our veterans. Each year they organize a bus trip to send veterans to Washington D.C for Memorial Day at no cost for up to 200 veterans.

The prize, the Guns ‘N Hoses traveling trophy, has stayed with the Rock County Fire team for two seasons.

Janesville PD will be looking to exact some good-natured revenge, as the Fire Department team has taken home the victory in both of the previous two events. There will be fun,  friendly competition, and a trophy will be awarded to the winner.

“This is my first year managing this event, and I’m excited to see how it turns out,” said Jets director of community relations Shelton Tripp. “It’ll be fun to watch some hopefully competitive hockey, and of course the real importance here is we all get a chance to support the members of our community who risk their lives to keep us safe.”

Janesville PD officer Derrick Mussey has played a major role in organizing this event each of its three seasons.

“The community really gets behind this,” he said. “That’s what’s so fun about it.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to support the community, as well as a fantastic charity that supports our veterans. Join officer Mussey and the rest of Janesville PD, along with the Fire Department team for a day of giving, competition, and fun this Saturday, January 19th.

Because many fans from the 4:30pm charity game will stick around to watch the Jets, fans are encouraged to buy their tickets ahead of time and arrive close to the 6:15pm door time. Tickets are available online and at any Lions Quick Mart location.
