Battle of Wisconsin 2026-27
The fight for America’s dairyland milk can trophy
The Battle of Wisconsin is about to begin to see who will win the Milk Can Trophy. Will it be the reigning champs, the Janesville Jets, or will the Wisconsin Windigo steal it out of the hands of its prior champion?
The Battle of Wisconsin, a season-long rivalry, started back in 2010 when the Coulee Region Chill matched up against the Jets. Then, the Chill relocated from Onalaska and became the Chippewa Steel in 2018.
The Jets matched up with the Steel a few times a year to see who would hold onto the Milk Can Trophy until the next time they battled each other on the ice. Until this year. At the end of the season last year, the Chippewa Steel relocated to Pueblo, Colorado in the Mountain Division of the NAHL. The Jets remained in possession of the Milk can trophy by winning the series last year.
This year, the Battle of Wisconsin is still on, just with a new team. The Steel passed the tradition to the Wisconsin Windigo, a NAHL team located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The Jets and the Windigo match up 8 times this season. The Jets will hang on to the trophy until a winner for the season between the two teams is decided.
A huge thank you to Blain’s Farm and Fleet for sponsoring this fun and exciting battle between the two teams.
