Director of Business Operations and Communications
As the Jets celebrate 10 years in the NAHL, Mason celebrates five with the Jets. In his role, Mason directs the Jets’ front office, communications, and internship program. He works closely with Jets sponsors, heads the Jets’ marketing efforts, and with Shelton Tripp oversees the Jets’ game night operations. Mason also manages the Jets’ website and social media channels.
Since joining the Jets in 2014, Mason has helped the team repeatedly break records in corporate partnerships, season ticket memberships, and attendance.
Mason earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2014 before joining the Jets. Mason lives in Janesville with his girlfriend, Erin, their cat, Rigby, and their dog, Bosco. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and enjoys reading, cycling, and board games in his free time.
Vice President of Partner Relations & Sales
After an incredibly successful sales career at WCLO/WJVL, Mel joined the Jets in March of 2016. Mel’s wealth of talents immediately improved the Jets’ connections to corporate partners in the South Central Wisconsin community.
Mel will continue to serve the Jets in his role of corporate communications, partner relations, and sponsorship sales into the 2018-19 season, primarily by connecting businesses and individuals who support Jets hockey to the product: the players, the coaches, and the fans.
In his free time, Mel enjoys physical fitness and attending sporting events.
Director of Sales & Community Outreach
Shelton is in his first season with the Jets after joining the team in September 2018.
As Director of Sales & Community Outreach, Shelton oversees group tickets, ticket plans, community involvement, and game night operations. Shelton also oversees sales interns, assists with marketing and promotional initiatives, and serves as team liaison to Janesville Youth Hockey.
In 2014, Shelton graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting. He came to Wisconsin from New York City, where he had lived since 2015. In New York, Shelton grew his acting resume while balancing different sales positions. His passion for storytelling and communication opened the opportunity to begin his career in sales and marketing.
Shelton lives in Janesville and serves as an Ambassador for Forward Janesville. In his free time, Shelton enjoys running, playing basketball, and watching live theater.
Calvin joined the Jets in August 2018 as a Multimedia Intern, bringing his skills in broadcasting, graphic design, and video editing to the Jets’ growing communications department.
Calvin graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a Broadcast, Print, and Web emphasis. Calvin also attained a minor in Sports Management.
After his fall internship completed, the Jets retained Calvin and focused his role as a broadcaster and content creator for the franchise.
In his free time, Calvin enjoys watching Chef Ramsay videos on YouTube.
Marketing & Communications Intern
Rob joined the Jets in January 2019 as a Communications Intern. He works full-time with the Jets to help bring consistent, quality content to the best fans in the NAHL. Rob’s focus is on written communications, but is sharpening his skills in video editing and graphic design with the Jets.
With this internship, Rob will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Bowling Green State University. At Bowling Green, Rob worked in donor and fan relations with the Falcon Club, the charitable giving foundation at Bowling Green, and involved himself closely with multiple Division I sports, including the Bowling Green hockey team.
As a full-time intern, Rob lives in Janesville, and enjoys watching hockey, reading, and listening to music in his free time.
Marketing & PR Intern
Like Rob, Gabby also joined the Jets in January 2019. Her role as a Marketing & PR Intern involves her in the Jets’ promotional efforts from start to finish. Gabby helps with promo flyer creation and distribution, digital content creation, and social media management.
Gabby will graduate from UW-Whitewater in December 2019 with a Bachelors Degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, and a minor in Sport Management. She lives in Whitewater, and enjoys attending sporting events and traveling.
Marketing & PR Intern
Allie also joined the Jets in February 2019. She works alongside Gabby in creating and distributing promotional materials, collaborating on digital content creation, and some social media management.
Allie is a junior at UW-Whitewater, majoring in Advertising with a minor in General Communication. She is from Eagan, Minnesota, and in her free time enjoys being outside and playing board games.
Game Night Operations Assistant
Taylor started with the Jets in the 2017-18 season as an intern. As Game Night Operations Assistant, Taylor manages fan relations at every Jets home game. Fans can find Taylor working at the merchandise and information table, helping groups locate their seats, and finding participants for the Jets’ various in-game contests. Taylor is the Swiss Army knife of the Jets’ game night operations staff.
Taylor is a student at Blackhawk Technical College. Taylor lives in Janesville with his wife, Alii, and daughter, Noel.
