The Janesville Jets have finalized details for their first ever Salute to Service weekend, this Friday and Saturday, November 4th and 5th versus the defending NAHL Robertson Cup Champions, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. All veterans and active duty military are welcome to attend each night free of charge.
Thanks to corporate partners M3 Insurance and Data Dimensions, the Jets will wear specialty camo uniforms for each game of the series, the first ever military jersey in franchise history. While the Jets have held individual military appreciation nights in the past, such a targeted focus with high earning potential for veteran benefit groups is new.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to recognize those who have served, and give back to local veterans groups,” said Mason Lyttle, director of business operations. “This is a cause close to our organization, and close to a lot of our core fans, too.”
Vets Roll and Rock Valley Community Programs will each benefit from the weekend’s jersey auction, bartending tips, and 50/50 raffles.
“On behalf of the Jets, I would like to thank Janesville Youth Hockey for sharing the 50/50 pot with our partner nonprofits,” said Lyttle.
Two weeks ago, the Jets concluded their seventh annual Pink in the Rink benefit weekend, raising money for Mercy Regional Cancer Center. The live post-game auction, conducted on the ice, raised $3,500 for Mercyhealth, with more than $500 coming from other weekend fundraising sources.
This weekend, Jets fans can bid live on camo jerseys straight from their phone with the DASH Auction app. Download the app by visiting www.dashapp.io, or by searching “DASH auction” in your app store. The auction will begin on Friday when doors open at 6:00pm CST, and close during Saturday’s third period.
Other weekend features include ceremonial puck drops, an on-ice flag folding demonstration, presenting of colors, and multiple recognitions of veterans and active duty military members in attendance.
A special offer has been extended to all Jets fans and supporters to treat veterans and their families to a fun-filled weekend of hockey. Visit www.janesvillejets.com for information on how you can treat veterans and their families with tickets, or how you can be a part of this spectacular event.
