The Janesville Jets have once again teamed up Mercy Health Systems to "Paint The Rink Pink" for Breast Cancer Awareness this weekend October 4th & 5th at the Janesville Ice Arena. The fundraising will once again start on Thursday night October 3rd from 4-8pm. With the help of Texas Roadhouse in Janesville the players will be waiting tables in our "Skaters as Waiters" program. A portion of the sales from the evening will be donated to Mercy's Cancer Center. Last year $1000 was raised and donated by Texas Roadhouse.
As far as the festivities at the Janesville Ice arena goe this weekend. On Friday night the first 200 fans in the rink will be given a limited edition Pink T-Shirt sponsored by Wiggy's Saloon, R&W Heating, and MMPR. On Saturday night the Jets will be passing out PInk "Refuse to Lose" braclets to the first 200 fans. And will have them also available for $2 while supplies last with proceeds to benefit Mercy.
The weekend will also feature for the first time "Pink Ice" inside the Janesville Ice Arena. Along with the Jet Fuel Cheerleaders doing a special presentation both nights between the second and third period. "We have been partnering with Mercy for the many years now" according to Jets Operations Manager Greg Hanthorn. " And with the giveaways, Pink Ice, Cheer team program, and Jersey Auction we wanted to take it to another level" says Hanthorn.
This years Jersey auction will be held following the game on Saturday night. " I really think the fans are gonna like the look of this years Specialty pink jerseys" stated Hanthorn."They're predominately blue with pink trim and the players tell me they are the best looking ones to date". The bidding will start at $200 on the jerseys with net proceeds go to Mercy's Cancer Center.
Tickets for the game are available for $8 for Adults and $6.50 for Kids & Seniors in advance on the Jets website(http://www.janesvillejets.com), Otherwise tickets are $10 day of the game For group tickets for this weekends game please call 608-752-JETS(5387).
