JANESVILLE, WI — The first of six straight home games begins tonight for the Jets.
The team is brimming with confidence following a week that saw:
- Jackson Sabo become the 10th player on this roster to earn his Division I commitment
- A road sweep of the Minnesota Wilderness
- Forward Charlie Schoen earn 2nd Star of the Week honors
- Seven players named to the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament
Now in front of them is a huge opportunity to gather that energy, focus it into two complete games, and deliver two wins to their home fans and four points to the standings.
Place | Team | GP | Record | Pts |
1 | Fairbanks Ice Dogs | 43 | 31-9-1-2 | 65 |
2 | Kenai River Brown Bears | 43 | 24-14-2-3 | 53 |
3 | Chippewa Steel | 35 | 23-12-0-0 | 46 |
4 | Janesville Jets | 39 | 16-22-1-0 | 33 |
5 | Minnesota Magicians | 39 | 11-20-5-3 | 30 |
6 | Springfield Jr. Blues | 41 | 13-25-2-1 | 29 |
With the division-leading Fairbanks Ice Dogs absolutely surging (winners of 10 straight, points in 13 straight games), it’s becoming increasingly likely that the perennial Robertson Cup contenders will again take the Midwest Division regular season title.
Last year’s Jets survived late-season leadership changes, qualified for the playoffs as the fourth seed, and were swept by the Ice Dogs in the opening round.
With the momentum built right now, this year’s Jets have an opportunity to chip away at that 13-point gap between themselves and the third-place Steel (eight games remaining between the rivals should help). Perhaps more importantly, this team can finish the final third of the regular season playing like the team they’ve shown only in flashes so far, and hit the playoffs as a very dangerous threat to anyone in their path.
