JANESVILLE, WI – The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have signed forward Mason Salquist to a tender contract, securing his NAHL rights for the 2018-19 season.

A tender is a contract a team offers a prospect to reserve his rights for the upcoming NAHL season. When a player signs a tender, his rights belong to that team within the NAHL, and he may not be recruited or drafted by any other member club. Each team is granted 10 tenders, which became active on November 1, and which they can either use on a prospect or trade to another NAHL club.

Mason Salquist

Salquist (5-9/161) is a small, skilled forward from Grand Forks, North Dakota, who will turn 18 in March. A senior at Red River High School, Salquist leads his Roughriders in scoring with 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points in just 16 games. He won a state championship with the team his sophomore year, when he put up 23 goals and 23 assists in 27 games.

Salquist also played for Great Plains in the Upper Midwest HS Elite League, where he registered 14 points in 20 total games.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the Janesville Jets organization,” said Salquist. “I hope to bring good things to Janesville.”

Coaches Say

“I’m very excited for Mason to sign a tender with the Janesville Jets. Mason is a very dynamic player and is a great kid. He is the heart and soul of Red River. He brings energy every day and is a fantastic leader.” — Bill Chase, Red River HS Head Coach

“I had the opportunity to see Mason play several times over the past year. Each time I saw him play, he made an impact at both ends of the ice. Mason is a solid 200-foot player who will compete hard every single night and will ad scoring to the Jets next season” — Corey Leivermann, Jets Director of Recruiting & Assistant Coach
