August Look-In
The Jets are fueling up for September
August 21, 2026- The Janesville Jets have welcomed the 2026-27 roster to Janesville. Last Thursday, the boys got settled in with their billet families and the town itself. This week, the boys are out on the ice getting warmed up for the new season.
“There is a natural process of excitement that builds up over the summer,” said Head Coach Lennie Childs. “It’s exciting to see what could be and trying to put it together.”
Orientation was a breeze for the returners of the Jets, and the new kids got a taste of the Mercyhealth Arena. The Jets staff made sure the boys got everything they needed. I was also able to talk with a returning player to see what his insight on these next few weeks is.
“I’m very excited to get to know the new guys that are coming here and build some chemistry with them.” He said.
Coach Lennie was also able to talk a little bit about what the schedule looks like for him and the players over these next few weeks.
“We have a lot of different skates, workouts, culture building, and fun team bonding events. This will help them create an identity on-ice and off-ice.”
The Jets have about a week of in-ice training before their first scrimmage in Des Moines, Iowa then a few preseason games against the Wisconsin Windigo. In between the games they play will be training, bonding, and learning who everyone is.
“We want the boys to learn what it means to be a Janesville Jet, how to learn our culture and what connects up as a team. We want them to know what we’re going to do, and how we’re going to do it.” said Head Coach Childs.
“We’ve got some really awesome guys that we picked up in tenders, in the draft, and free agency. And of course our returners.”
The team starts their new season on September 11th against the Springfield Jr. Blues.
The Jets also have 2 pre-season games, one at home, one away, against the Wisconsin Wendigo on September 4th and 5th.
