Jets, Janesville Community Mourn Loss of Al Fagerli

The Janesville Jets mourn the passing of public address announcer Al Fagerli, who passed away Monday of pancreatic cancer. He was 67 years old.

Al joined the Jets in fall 2017 after retiring from a legendary broadcasting career with WCLO/WJVL, which brought his call to nearly 2,000 area high school football, basketball, hockey, and baseball games. In three seasons on the Jets’ PA microphone, Al and his unmistakable, booming voice excitedly announced hundreds of Jets goals to thousands of fans.

“The entire Jets family is heartbroken to lose such a passionate, devoted man like Al,” said Jets Vice President Mason Lyttle. “We all knew exactly how lucky we were to bring a legendary talent like Al into the PA booth, but what many of us didn’t know at the time was how lucky we’d be to come to know him.”

“We will all miss his sharp wit, his library of stories, and his truly admirable passion for youth and amateur sports. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Mary, and daughter, Anna.”
