JANESVILLE, WI – The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have signed forward Paul DeSaro to a tender contract, securing his NAHL rights for the 2021-22 season.
A tender is a contract a team offers a prospect to reserve his rights for the upcoming NAHL season. When a player signs a tender, his rights belong to that team within the NAHL, and he may not be recruited or drafted by any other member club. Each team is granted 10 tenders, which became active on November 1, and which they can either use on a prospect or trade to another NAHL club.
DeSaro (5-9/170) is a 17-year-old forward hailing from Manorville, NY. DeSaro has spent the past three seasons with the AAA Selects Hockey Program in South Kent, Connecticut with impressive numbers.
DeSaro has already suited up for 17 games with the 18U Selects this season and has registered 12 points (6G/6A), seventh-best on the team.
In the 2019-20 and 2018-19 seasons, DeSaro was a point-per-game player for the Selects. The winger played in 62 games and had 64 points last season. His 31 goals tied for best on the team. As a 15U player, he tallied 64 points (28G/36A) on the year.
“Being tendered today by the Jets is exactly what my family and I needed. With all the craziness of 2020, something great needed to happen,” DeSaro said. “I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my hockey career. When I met Janesville’s coaching staff, I knew that I had to play for them. Wheels up.”
“We are pleased that Paul and his family have chosen Janesville as the next step in his hockey career. Paul is a competitive kid who has tremendous offensive instincts and a knack for scoring goals. More importantly he is a high character kid who wants to learn and develop and help enhance the Janesville Jet culture. Welcome to the Jet family Paul!” – Head Coach Parker Burgess and Associate Head Coach Lennie Childs
DeSaro is Janesville’s first tender signed for the 2021-22 season.
