JANESVILLE, WI – The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have signed forward Zachary Purcell to a tender contract, securing his NAHL rights for the 2018-19 season.

A tender is a contract a team offers a prospect to reserve his rights for the upcoming NAHL season. When a player signs a tender, his rights belong to that team within the NAHL, and he may not be recruited or drafted by any other member club. Each team is granted 10 tenders, which became active on November 1, and which they can either use on a prospect or trade to another NAHL club.

Zachary Purcell

Purcell (5-9/150) is another small, skilled forward from Aurora, Colorado. A mid-2000 birth year, Purcell is finishing his second campaign with the NAPHL’s Rocky Mountain RoughRiders. In his first year of 18U play, Purcell has tallied 15 goals in 18 games, adding seven assists for 22 points. He put up 19 points on 10 goals and nine assists in 22 games last season with the 16U team.

“I am thankful and excited to get the opportunity to play for the Janesville Jets,” Purcell said. “I look forward to getting there and being part of the team.”

Coaches Say

“Zach is a success-driven player. He is not content with mediocrity and will not settle for being average. That quality has elevated himself and our team to measures of success only gained with committed individuals.” — Doug Smail, RoughRiders 18U Head Coach

“Zach has had an outstanding NAPHL season thus far. I’ve seen him play at numerous NAPHL events. He’s a player who will fit in well with the Jets. He’s an outstanding skater and has great offensive talents. We look forward to seeing Zach in a Jets uniform next season.” — Corey Leivermann, Jets Director of Recruiting & Assistant Coach
